sgtsandvich promted you mentioning hair gel, you know the naked-run-into-battle guys? The Celts, they actually had home-made hair gel, and products (typically a lye paste) to lighten their hair and making it stick up. The women also used make up and generally when they were mourning or whatnot they'd stop "brightening" their nails....so yep.. everyone's right. Some people didn't bathe, others did. :D
